I've been keeping my eye on the ground the last few days and I finally got to digging after work today. I did an hour and fifteen minutes which is a lot in my world. Only about an inch of frost was beneath the leaves.

My plan was to go straight for the iron with the Deus. At this colonial site everything is deep, and iron strewn. It's going to take me years to dig this foundation out, but today I went for big iron signals and I wasn't disappointed.

Nothing has come easy from this site after the coin spill, but that's why it's become my favourite.

Enjoy the Holidays!

Nice work Scrappy Coco, I won all the swimmers over at my lake the last few summers. I drag my float around and pile all the glass and nails every time I go, they love it. I have that cellar hole from last year where I found the fully intact oil lamp. Every once in awhile I'll start going over there and try your strategy. I know with the lake it opened up a whole silver vein, found a few nice golds too.

Nice relic hunt Steve. Big iron can be a lot of fun and turn up some great finds. I've turned up several gun parts and other great finds hunting that exact same way. It also opens up the site for better targets. I have a iron infested site that I visit often. It's a great place to go when you don't have much time because it's loaded with targets. Thanks for posting. [emoji319] [emoji106]

Steve you can say you were hunting for iron, but we know you were really hunting for another great banner coin spill at that site. With a little electrolysis, that bell should come out to be a great piece in your display. One can never find too many thimbles. Congrats on getting back out and I sincerely wish you and your's a very merry Christmas and a very happy and productive New Year.

Very well done Scraps!

That shoe buckle is rather sweet. I bet electrolysis would make that bell look pretty darn good too.

Best to you and the family during the holidays, and good luck in the field!

Nicely done Steve,
The bell is a pretty cool find.
Let's see it after you clean it up.
Congrats on getting out

Hey I found the same piece u found!!IMG_8851.webp

Great assortment of relics Steve, that bell should clean up nicely- pewter buckle is a fantastic find as well

Thanks. It's my first all-pewter shoe buckle. Strangely I've found a pewter coated iron buckle before.

Yep, ever since a few friends like Bill D and Brad OutdoorAdv introduced me to iron, I've been hooked! I love finding pieces like this almost more than coins.

Well I wouldn't mind another silver or copper out of there. I'm sure they're hidden in that messy mound surrounding the cellar. Happy Holiday to you and yours, and Keith's Brother in law. And Scott

I'm afraid to attempt the bell myself, but I've already stated bribing a friend with microbrew. Lol. Happy holidays to you as well buddy. Hope to see you soon

I know it sounds cliche by now, but I've been saying this for years and it still makes me smile...
