Colonial Period Adz?

Now I'm not sure, but based on what I've seen on "Google" there is a possibility this adz could be colonial.
I found it at an early Louisiana plantation on Saturday.
Many of you that look at this site and post will probably be much more knowledgeable about early American tools like this. Please feel free to comment.
