I found these things a little outside Liberty Hill South Carolina. I’m new to metal detecting and relic hunting but I find it fascinating and love learning and feeling the history. I just need help identifying things I find. I have a couple of ideas but I’m not sure. Well the heart shaped piece is the front of a lock, the round ring with spike im going with a drive in hitching ring my best guess on that. no dead positive of the drive in hitch ring. the u shape piece in the misc pieces can you put up a bigger pic?

You do have some rose head spikes i believe , lock face, the drive in hitch ring , old kitchen ware , and i was thinking the u shape piece was a flint striker ,but not sure , i started looking at things like that closer after i threw one away thinking it was a broke chainlink. lol. . so i just save everything anymore till im just sure. some nice finds .

Thank you all for the input. I have so much fun exploring and finding these things that more insight on their history or backstory is exciting!

The "VR" on the lock stands for "Victoria Rex", i.e. Queen Victoria who took the throne in 1839. She was queen a very long time.

Nice old relics, congratulations! :occasion14:

I went back out and did a little bit more detecting. This is what I found. Not sure of the size, but from here it almost looks like a staple for fastening barb wire or fence wire to fence post.

Keep going at it. After the iron is out, the coins should appear.
