Come And Join Me For A Cool "Virtual Reality" Woods Hunt

Temperatures to go above freezing again today .... BONUS :) I loaded up the GTI 2500 and stopped at Rotten Ronnies for breakfast. They just don't serve hot tasty Texas food for breakfast in this neck of the woods. After filling up my innards, I programmed my 2500 to my "woods mode"....where just silvers and pennies along with ammo get picked up. I use this on the GTI 1500 & GTP 1350 also.

So.....off to the woods!

The entry to the woods takes me high up on a ridge. Down below is the old "North Saskatchewan River". Ice is starting to form on this river. Pretty soon it will be covered with ice. The GTI 2500 is facing a great path, where the hunt takes place.

After about 5 hours, my nose is running and the pine needles are in my hair and over the detector screen. It's time to head back home while there is still some day light left. Quite often you can hear the coyotes howling after dark. However, it is quiet tonite. Here is my take for the day. Looks like another Snider projectile, judging from the hollow part. Even got a silver ring out in the middle of nowhere. Near a water spring I found an old purse, which somebody probably stole out of a car. There was a cell phone sitting next to the purse. It needed a good scrub-down to get it looking as good as it is. And some newer pennies to go towards my annual gold coin.

Here's a closeup of the better finds. The special effects on the ring are from setting the ring on one of those old "AMERICA ON LINE" CD's that they used to give away at nearly every store. You just use the macro mode on the camera, adjust the lighting so the rainbow colors appear around the ring and "SHOOT". The dog tag is somewhat old, as the area code shown on the tag has been obsolete for some time.

Like most of our hunts....we get a little tired, and the hunt comes to an end. Just a great sunset to wish me goodbye as I headed back to my car.

And the hunt isn't really over until the photo part is complete......

I hope you all enjoyed the hunt! ;D

looks like a hunting area 12 ga and 30/30 shells --- humm wonder if the cell phone powers up -- if you can get it to power up ---call the owner tell the folks how and where you found the purse -- who knows might be the tip to help solve a crime --- Ivan

The cell phones had been in the woods for about 2 years. The elements had really done a number on it. I had to really scrub it with a toothbruch to get it looking as good as it is.
