First Gold found with Compadre after 6 beach trips. Using push-pull method pioneered by Indy Stiles. The Compadre is pulling dimes and nickels at 5 inches and I picked a staple out of the middle of the beach. Setting is on the I in Iron.

Nice Gold!
All I was able to find out about Indy Stiles is the he is a legendary treasure hunter who is still alive.
What is the push-pull method?

Congrats on the gold!

Yeah, what is push pull method?

Maybe he pushes and pulls the detector forwards and backwards over the target to pinpoint it.

Say, How is the compadre in wet sand? The Fisher F2, similarly priced, is sporadic in any mineralized anything.

And nice finds!

The pod cast above is an excellent resource. Indy has been hunting treasure for over 50 years. Arguably he is the best ambassador for this hobby. His push pull method is to drag the coil on the ground and push/pull instead of swinging the unit. He says that at age 87 he an do this for 6 hours. I believe him going front to back is easier on your shoulder than side to side. You sacrifice a little in terms of coverage but you can go for hours going front to back and that is his point. Anyhow listen to this podcast or a similar one from Dan Hughes regarding Indy and I think you fill find that he is a wealth of knowledge even if you choose to not mimic his techniques. I want to say a big thank you to all the regular posters on this forum it is very inspiring to hear about the success of the Florida crowd. More CA locals needs to contribute to this forum.

The Compadre is useless in water (salt or freshwater) your eyeball is better. I am looking for a used PI pro then I will join the ranks of the bobby pin hunters.

You may be able to do this with a Concentric or Mono or spiral search coil as it's receive pattern is cone shaped.

I doubt that push pull will work with a DD coil as you will be searching in line/parallel to a narrower receive pattern which resembles a cleaver.

Nice! Keep posting and let us know how the "push/pull" works for you.
