That's a pretty cool find. Pretty neat it was in Ohio.

Thanks man. That's what I thought, really makes you wonder how it got there

the only real confederate half dollars are 1861 "o" halfs that once rhe mint on new orleans was taken over were minted by louisana and later by the confederate govt using the "us govt" half dollar dies ( which due to extreme wear cracked in later run usage) -- with the jan of 1861 new orleans mint coins being made by the us govt and the rest being made by the confederates until the stock of silver dried up -- the rough odds are 7 to 1 that if you got a 1861 "o" half dollar that it was "confederate made"--now several "trail strike" confederate rear marked halfs were struck and given to the very highest level confederate cabinet officers but never went into full production and are rare beyond rare.

morgans raid did go into ohio , coming from indiana toward cincinnatti then circling it and going up into ohio * --it was the farthest large scale northeren raid by confederate troops during the civil war.

What the heck that's disappointing. So who would have made something like this and when?

The Georgia Mint, Inc. was started in 1986 to celebrate our country's history, specifically the Civil War by the development of reproduction coins and booklets of that era.
Don.......
