I went to the field today not knowing what to expect. To be quite honest I did not even fathom that I would find the things I did. My first high tone of the day was the Confederate Spur. I know the family that lived in this house so I am currently researching which regiment of North Carolina Cavalry<?> the individual served in. I think this puts an increased amount of character on the relic. I dug a bucket full of trash, mainly iron scraps, and foil. It was everywhere. I dug a record number of sickle bar blades. I dug ten of them. That is ridiculous! I am having a hard time with the double D if you can't tell. My second best signal was the tang or sprag off of a colonial buckle! When I saw that come out of the hole I had to sit down. I did NOT expect to see that, at a supposed "1890s house" as it was described to me. I got another early silver plated buckle, not sure what it was used for, probably not tack because it is plated. I got a GREAT flat button. It has the shank still attached at 90 degrees! The manufacture mark is "WARRANTED" and is depressed letter style. I got my first brass tack, hand forged. It is very solid, made of thick metal. I found two different very cool brass hand made hinges. My only old coin was a 1919 cent, in pretty terrible condition. Someone tried to make a button out of it. I think it is from the 1810s. I got a cool brass oil lamp part, a harmonica reed, a curry comb, cool piece of china, and two mystery items.

Help with the mystery items would be appreciated!

The Union Spur was more ornate, because Union had more uniform supplies. The Confederacy used more plain supplies, and this is the most common style of Confederate spur.

Great relic saves my friend! Keep hittin it.....might be a nice CS button hiding in there too!

Very nice set of finds! I have not yet found any colonial buckles up here...hoping for one. The spur is great--congrats!

The pewter looks more like a heavy lead-alloy mix.

Amazing I.D. kuger, and thanks for the insight Crusader.
