It’s a log spike was really freaking deep. Looks handmade. Anyone know how old it could be? It’s in useable shape must be good iron.

Could be a logging dog. Blacksmiths made so many things on the fly.....
Yeah it’s a rafting dog for taking log down river. This is the only one I could find online that looks almost identical except the one I found has a cool half twist going on

I saw the twist in it. I have a black smith shop It has a couple cool things. The twist the drifted eye but the real skill was in forge welding that ring together.
Cool find. I have found a few but none like that.
 

Grinder test will tell you if it it hardnable steel but will ruin the relic.

I cleaned it up a little but I’m probably going to keep it the way it is
