I'm cheating a bit because this isn't actually a find from today. I found it at a local river during an outing with my wife. We had used a pretty steep trail to access the river, which was tough to negotiate while wearing flip-flops. It was even tougher trying to climb back up carrying this rock. I had to make the tough decision to leave it behind for fear of dropping it and breaking my foot.

Fast forward a full year...we were hiking along the river trail and I remembered this rock and wondered if it could possibly still be there.

I think it's a natural rock that just happened to get knocked around in just the right ways. Even so, it's one of my favorite finds.

I've been calling him Massimo. He's gotta be Italian, right?

I gotta admit, that one's pretty convincing. Definitely a keeper.

Looks like my friend Joey Bevelacuqa
