Can't figure out what this is, anyone able to help?

Looks like a lid that would have enabled you to either pour or sprinkle something depending on which side you used. Not sure though.

Reminds me of an ash tray rest, where one side is for setting a lit cigarette and the other side for snuffing it out in some sand.

i find weird stuff like that all the time, probably from an old lantern or oil lamp.

I agree with prolab69 it looks like what the wick goes through on an oil lamp.
