I don't think it is a spear point. There are native copper points, but being that copper is a soft metal that could be worked even cold,it would be much thinner and sharper,"not so blunt".It looks like a broken copper piece off of something?I can see why it could give that impression of a point though. But don't take my word for it,I am not really sure!

Not sure but it looks like something...you say it's copper? I like it though.

Thanks NCPeaches, it is copper and there were Native Americans around the area. I have found nothing like it before.

Thanks for your opinion. I am starting to agree more and more with you. I don't know why a spear would be so blunt. I will keep on to it just in case.

I believe you may have what's known as a preform, not 100% sure though. It's basically a Copper Artifact in it's early stages of the annealing (cold hammering) process so do not throw it out.

If you imagine four of them, kinda looks like something used to hold something up that was broke off.

Thanks backbabon!

Thanks Cosmo

Is there any possibility that it is drippings from a large brazing operation? you say it was found near a train line, seems to me that there would be lots of possibilities for things to be brazed, and brazing is just like soldering with copper/brass no?

It could be brazing. Thanks for the feedback.

You would need to check the copper if it is real shiny it may not be old raw copper.:dontknow:

It is not very shiny, most of it is greenish brown. Only a little spot on the back of it is shiny and I may have hit considering that I had to chip through inches of gravel to recover it.
