I have a few queries about copper. First off, pipe is considered #1 if it has no paint or solder. If so then I should be able to cut the soldered ends of of my old pipes, i think. Is this right.

Also I have some wired that I stripped a few years ago. Its not shiny anymore but isn't green. Its been sitting in a bucket in my basement. Does this need to be freshly stripped to be considered #1.

I'm just trying to figure out the best way to seperate my scrap for the best value.

Thanks for the responses.

correct on the pipe, the wire should still bring #1 price the way it is

Does the size or length of the scrap have any impact on the buying price?

Thanks, the scrapyard can be an intimidating place and I hate to learn as I go.
