Could it be?

The more I try to clean the ring i found yesterday, the more I am thinking its gold. However, few things have me confused...
1. Gold doesn't tarnish, this is tarnished...
2. No green patina, rules out copper/brass..
3. Glimmers of gold...

I am at a loss..

But it didn't have a patina when it came out of the ground..

Perhaps no patina, but I think PBK nailed it, what ever it is, it's gold plated. I found a gold plated Avon ring with the plating coming off, and it wasn't turning green or rusty.
