Could use some help!

I found this piece a while back metal detecting with my fishers 75. I recently got a metal acid test kit on line using the scratch stone test. Used all the acids from silver to 10k to 22k gold acids. My metal scratch disappears right away with all except for the platinum acid. The scratch remains bright but disappears around 15 seconds. It weighs 140grams and has magnetic properties. Anyone know of this kinda testing and what it may indicate.

Give it a Spark Test.

A lot of machine shops now have detectors that can read metals. I am sure if you find a large manufacturing pland someone there can read it wiwth a XRF analyzer

Your probably right. It looks like it could have been an old coin die because it has the hardness and has the octagon shape. I’m really gonna have to investigate this more! Thanks!

Yea,it looks like old Wrought iron.It appears Fibrous,low Carbon..That stuff has become Precious.You find it on old Structures,old Bridges,Etc.It does'nt rust much...Blacksmiths covet it.There's nothing better for Forging.."WROUGHT IRON"
