ACE 250 and Discovery 1100
Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
Went hunting for a couple hours Sunday morning and yesterday after work for an hour at a city park. Not much, but got my first token from a modern day arcade and a copper disc that looks like it might have been a quarter (has the ridged edges). Trying to get the hang of pinpointing with my new ACE 250. Love the machine, and can't wait until I'm proficient with it to get into some serious detecting.

On a side note: I had gone to a school playground on Saturday morning to hunt the wood chips and pulled out a bunch of dangerous metal (didn't even get all of it). This was all either on top or within an inch or two of the surface.Sent a picture to the principal of the school, and he responded today saying he was passing on to the school districts service center to look into and said thanks and to advise of anything else I find when I'm there. I guess another person to view metal detecting in a positive light. Next time I go, I might invite him to hunt and loan him my 1100.

People are morons leaving dangerous stuff like that laying around. Last week I found huge glass slivers from a smashed bottle in the sand at a childrens' playground >:(. Got it all I think, some people are scum.
On a lighter note congrats on the finds ;)

Kudos to both you and Yarrum for removing hazards to the children. Yarrum, you're right about some people. They are a total waste of oxygen.

Great job Neal.
Doesn't that metal wire drive you nuts? It does me.

Good finds and congrats on your first token. Sounds like you're in for good relations with the school and principal. Keep digging!

Thanks for all the comments. Unfortunately, all that garbage is probably coming from their mulch vendor, as I hunted another school two weeks ago with wood mulch and found the same stuff.

MM - yeah that wire drives me crazy. Since it's close to the surface it sounds off like it's something of value.

Michiganne - very positive from the principal. My goal, since I'm learning my ACE 250, is to hit all of the playgrounds in the school district. Detectors creed and feel it's my civic duty, since I know there seems to be a problem.
