This damn site really gets me motivated to go detecting every time I read about what someone found I load up after work and go!! Lol-- I went back to the old Harris school which is vacant now and was opened in 1909! First day I really got to know what tone can slurry is but near the end of the hunt found a 1912 wheat penny then a 1955 wheaty 20 min later!! Went home and after reading a few more posts on here decided to hit er again after work the following day! I'm glad I did cuz I found my very first barber quarter!! It's a 1914 and pretty sad and worn but a first none the less! An hour later I found a buffalo nickel!! Another first for me!! It too is perty worn but man what a high! Lol --- I also found a couple of trinkets and a piece of what I think is copper slag but not sure! Anyway thanks for lookin and keep swinging guys TODAY'S THE DAY!!!

That's another aspect of this hobby that I love! Sooooooo many firsts to be had on ANY given day! :)

I, also, gather some steam from the posts here. Of course, mine is more driven by being old. ;) Most of my gumption just got up and left!
This place helps me to keep that drive alive!

Congrats!

HH!

And they say you can't polish a turd? Lol. As suspected , it's a piece of copper slag. Still a kinda neat find-- I'll take a day of finding trash over work anytime!!

Copper brings $$$, save that slag. Plus all rings count. :icon_thumright: Congrats on the coins!

Congrats on your firsts!!! :occasion14:

Hey WETFLY that barber Q. is not sad, it is a very decent dug coin.

As in one very recent post, too many are made up of coins that weren't ever in the ground.
