I wasn’t sure if they had many around there neck if smaller bell. Maybe Creskol nailed it.

Doesn’t appear to be iron but I guess that doesn’t matter it was to hold the ring in place on the wood via the very end?

They were often made of brass. In fact i have found more brass than iron, though that may have to do with what types of signals we usually target
