Was at the place where my Great Great Great Grandparents had their farm and found this not far from where I found a 1910 Lincoln cent. A lot trash from the 1970’s and 80’s.
Looks more like a brass float to me. What do you folks think?

Possibly some type of bell . Some times bells were put in a type of leather or cloth type bag and then hung up

Possible bell as Gare stated.
I can't make out if there were connection points.
Here is a large complete intact one.

Though yours doesn't have vent/sound holes in the top as this one.

I'll check an attached set that I have up at the shop later to see if they have holes.
Looking at the photos again, I think that the item isn't a bell.
Large bells have pointed folds as picture shows.
I'm thinking it could of been a brass knob instead.
Oxen knob is a possible one, or the knob off a brass bed.

Agree it does not look like a bell. Brass knob is a better guess.

My first thought was a damaged horse hame ball/knob. :icon_scratch:
