Went out to a old spot after work. It is in the woods so I have decided to dig all pull tab signal to see if they are masking something underneath. I did not get any silver yet but did get two nickels one is a 1977 and feet from it I got this 1903 V nickel. This site has produced some old finds. Let's hope there is a seated below a pull tab out there!!!!!

Thanks for sharing...

Nice save, I have been thinking that some of my crusty/toast coins that I could not identify might have been V nickels.

Nice save! There is a seated out there hiding somewhere, just have to get the coil over it! GL. HH!!

Most i find come out the same way, but still a good find...

Maybe, if you don't mind experimenting with this find, a bit of easy steel wool pad might clean it up enough to read more.

I've had varied success with it but, most of mine just get displayed as I found them.

Nice to have in any case!

Vs clean up really well (in my experience) with some aggressive scrubbing from an SOS pad followed by a light touch up with some #0000 steel wool. I found these 3 a few months ago and think the end result was pretty good.

Thanks for the tips. I'll give the steel wool a try. Can't hurt!
