Cufflink me thinks. Colonial maybe?

In this area of woods I've found a large cent and some other stuff. Pictured here is a medium sized pewter button and a buckle of uncertain date and a wheat cent, mostly to show scale but I did find three wheats close togther which really had me hoping for silver (nope).
Far off I found this cufflink which seems to have a gold gilt but not solid gold I don't believe. Has some black material set into it (the stripes).
Any ideas on the possible age?

Based on the characteristics of its "construction," and others I've seen, I think it is from the very-late 1700s to early-1800s.
