Cut Nail

Hey all,
New to the hobby and dad and I went to an old field today. It's an enormous property, close to 200 acres, and a good portion of that is field. We know it's old but he's supposed gather some more info on specifics. Anyways, when out today we dug a few holes and this cut nail was in one of them. Anyone knowledgeable on old nails?

I'm going to say that is a horse shoe nail based on the shape of the head. Welcome to the hobby and t-net. Should be more stuff there. Good luck[emoji256]

Good call, makes sense because it was smack dab in the middle of the field. Any guess on age?

Probably no way to date it. They still are in use but looking at the condition, I would think it's pretty old. Probably off of an old work horse.
