This cut nail was unearthed during the underpinning of the White House in 1948 and was given to me by the nephew of the crew leader who was employed by John McShain of Phila. It is 6" long. I only have a verbal provenance.

Looks ancient . Romans also used similar nails . But they did not change much until 19 century. So it is hard to say how old is it. But looks cool. I like how they make everything to last back then. I have a nice one also...
