Finding myself with a bunch of time on my hands, I decided to finally get around to constructing my test garden.
The first step was to obviously clear the garden area of any stray metal. I selected an old two track path on my property which was fairly clean, except for the expected bits of junk metal here and there.
Getting that out of the way I put together the cache of stuff to go into the ground. I picked out a bunch of stuff one could expect to find on any generic hunt. Some of it was stuff I'd previously dug up like the gold/silver rings and most of the coins. The 1 oz silver round came from my personal collection.

Next I made concrete markers by pouring redi-mix into paper cups. Just before it hardened I put the numbers in the top, 1 through 40.
I made 3X5 cards with the picture of the item I buried, near which marker, how deep and any other notes I wanted.
The items are buried in the two track lane within about 8' of the marker at varying depths. Some spots have a rusty nail near a silver ring or a small piece of rusty metal near a good coin. I even put a couple of fire nuggets in the mix.
The last thing to do is select a detector from the wall and go practice...
Once the CV-19 business has concluded, I'll have a few trusted friends over and let them hone some skills in my Victory Garden.
Good luck to all and stay safe!
