CW Friction Primers for Artillery

Does anyone know approximately how long the twisted wire igniters were on friction primers? Also, does anyone have a photo of a spent one they can post? I'm trying to determine if
the twisted wire pieces I found could have been from friction primers or if they were from screen door hardware.

Yep, its twisted like that, but it looks like his photo is a composite and if so, I cannot tell how long the wire is. Do you know if they were variable lengths? I have the M&M Projectiles book and while it gives a real good description of friction primers it neglects to give dimensions.

I don't know about variable lengths. I've got a couple w/o wires put up in a case but did find this one with the wire intact and some 3 ringers in the same pic for size comparison.

Ok, looks like what I have is indeed screen door hardware as its about twice the size of the ones I'm seeing. Oh well...
