CZ-20 question

How do you tell how deep something is with the CZ-20? This machine is aggravating the *%^$ out of me. I've already decided to sell my Gold Bug II because I can't figure it out and this one is about to go too! **sigh** I don't get to use either one of these very often and I guess that is the reason I just am having so much trouble learning them. Also I am spoiled by using the Garrett GTI which tells me everything (almost).
