I'd like some user thoughts on these two coils.

The 10" certainly covers more ground, but the 8" would seem to me is easier to pinpoint with and creates less drag in the surf.

Are the depths fairly equal on the two coils?

Just like some thoughts on the matter before I buy one.

I have both. 8" in the surf for sure. Depth difference not much difference between the two. 10" covers more ground but not in the surf. 8" picks up smaller items. 10" can be hard to pinpoint. Felix at Fisher tells me most like the 8" best. You probably can swing the 8" quicker also?

You are right on both counts. It will depend on what type of hunting you will do most. If you will be hunting beaches that get small troughs or that are very trashy, the 8 inch is the right coil to use. If you will be hunting open water that gets very few troughs or is not trashy, then the 10 in. is perfect. I don't see much difference in pin pointing between the 2 coils.

I agree with the above...........
Got eights on my excaliburs and my CZ...sure looks small compared to the rest..but when the days are over and the end of year total comes down..the eight's count is equal to the Big Boys.....
