I felt like going for a bit of clad and maybe a piece of jewelry today. So, I headed out to a local tot-lot. I stopped for batteries first and when I got back to my car, there was the earring laying under my door just smiling up at me.

So, with a start like that I was expecting good things! ;)

Got what I came for, clad & a bit of exercise. But, those tots played a trick on me! :(

I got this coin that appeared in the hole, edge first. I thought it was just scrap until I saw a reeded edge. It was thinner than a dime but larger than one. I put it away until I got home to clean up.

Can you see from the pictures what it turned out to be?

Thanks for peeking!

HH!

I'm more interested in how it got smashed like that! :)

Thanks for the response!

Na, railroad is generally clean and smooth, we smashed hundreds of them when we were kids and called them dibloons(pirate treasure)lol

I remember those days Stew, me and my brother laying pennies on the track, man that was along time ago!!!!!

Yep, days long gone. If one puts ANYTHING on a railroad track nowadays they risk a long stay in the hoos-gow as a terrorist.

It is very strangely smashed though. Anyone think it might have come that way?

Yep times have changed for sure !!! HH acman

That's one beat up dime.

well we have 1 clue it's date it looks to be 1997 or 1987 by the way the 3rd numbers top is rounded so it puts it at at least 25 years. my guess is that it was done with a hammer and another piece of metal on top of it. hey you get a strong enough guy with a hameer and it could happen.
