Probably a dumb ? but hat does pontiled mean.

Congrats on all your finds,,,,,6 pontiled umbrella inks,your just killing me !!!! and driving me to drink I believe the pontl mark is from the rod with a small glob of glass they attached to the bottom so they could hold it while they finished the lip,then the resulting pontil scar was left when they broke the rod off
