DAY 8 - THE A TEAM IS BACK!!!!

Crusaderdad arrived back from holiday this morning & couldn't stop wooooohoooooing at my Gold hammered. We doubled up and immediately continued the hunt. The team is up & running. Every other run I rested my arm (injury) & did Dads digging.

Found some cool stuff:

Dad's two eyes only finds were an undamaged Victorian Bottle
Plus a nice whatzit - Looks like a Medieval Heraldic Horse boss - leather decoration. Got some traces of enamel. Rivet stud on centre reverse. Nice piece.

With the detector he was on fire:
3 Roman bronzes (me 6)
A first for us - Tiny Silver 'Galley halfpenny' - Italian Soldino cica 1486-1530 - circulated as illegal tender.
Silver plated contemporary forgery of Vespsian Denarius cica 70 AD
RARE - 1668 Brass Halfpenny token (with hole in middle)

We found more Medieval Clothes seals & Lead Tokens
and bits.....

Just got back an email from my friend (Researchs these local tokens for a book he's doing):
'Nice find, scarce, but not rare - I have seen about 20 of them. The hole is interesting - is is square - like made with a sharp nail?'

I over did detecting about 2 years ago. Was on pain killers & took months to recover, I now have a weakness.
