Left work early again & continued the slog.

Dad found the Hammered Silver Commonwealth Halfgroat 1649-60 which is quite rare & was produced during Cromwells reign & during the Civil War. Its the second to the collection but the first which I found was 15 years ago & it had a hole in it.

He also found a nice hunts button with a dogs head.

I had the strange looking horse pendant with all the spikes & a few other bits.

I must be building up to the big one!

I love that dog button! I wonder how old it is?

Keep 'em coming!

You always get the cool stuff. Congrats. Is that item on the bottom row, second from the left, part of a watch?

Nice finds, dugfinds...!

Do you think this field still offers a lot of potential? I suspect there isn't a square foot in all of England that hasn't been walked on at one time or another..

Yes it does have more potential, we have only completed less than 1 10th of the field. We will never finish it this winter & when the harvest comes we will have better stomping grounds.

In comparsion to other fields this one delivers very few keepers but as you may have seen when it does it makes the hours worth it.

Figures crossed for today ;D

Nice finds Dug! Unfortunately, the Germans invented the coin mill in the mid to late 1500s (1585ish?) so the mid 1600 coins are milled in Germany. Good luck on the field and HH, Mike

Wow those are really cool finds
Congrats on your hunt

Dugfinds your posts are always worth reading. Seeing what you have pulled out of the ground makes me really anticipate my detecting holiday in the UK in a few weeks. I am going to be in Cambridgeshire and seeing those dug coins that you pull out of the ground will inspire me to keep swinging my Explorer while there.
