I'm thinking of getting an entry level detector, maybe an f2. It comes with a 8" coil but there is an option to get a 11" DD coil for $100 more. What would the DD coil do for me that the other would not? How much better is it and is it worth the extra cash which is half the cost of the detector?

The DD coil will give you much better separation and will do a better job penetrating mineralized soil. When I went to a DD coil, my find count went up drastically. Now DD coils are all I run.

I just ordered the 8.5" X 11" DD PROformance Search Coil for my ACE 250 that i hope to be using sometime next week :)

I strongly suggest getting a DD coil. I just bought a 10x12 SEF coil for my MXT-Pro and went over 4 schools I previously detected thoroughly. (I thought). Instantly I found more coins and two pieces of jewelry, everything between 4-6 inches, up to 7, all with a strong signal. Im kicking myself for not getting a DD coil sooner.

Thanks for the info, I think this is the reassurance I suspected and needed

I can't wait to get my DD coil LOL

I am so addicted to this metal detecting/digging that it causes me to lose sleep :laughing7:

I remember when I got my 6x10 shooter dd for my m6 went back to spots I have gone with the concentric and nothing but high tones and silver. Well I didn't work for it! Enjoy!
