De-Knotting a Chain

This chain had the biggest, toughest knot I've ever seen. Finally got it out by spraying on some WD40 then yanking on it with two small pliers.

Congrats on your finds. My wife's chains get knotted all the time. I usually put a stick pin in each hand, and start to separate it wherever I can. It takes a little patience (which she doesn't have !) Once you find that place where you can start to loosen it, your home free.

I have a lot of bracelets that were once knotted neckless chains.

Next time try toothpicks, my wife sells jewelry and I can't tell you how many chains I've had to untangle that way.

This one was so rock solid--thought the medallions would have to be cut off.

Nice save Clive!! Those religious medallions and chains will sell for more then melt. One thing I can never melt, be it silver or gold.
