Chia Ching Chinese cash coin. Somewhere around 1796-1820 - I think?

Nice coin! Did you find that near an old gold mine? HH, Mike

You are right on, about the date....and it is nice shape. It was minted by the Bureau of Revenue. (that is one of the Chinese characters on the reverse side.) A common coin, but not in Deadwood. Good find.

Nice find, Mrs O! :icon_pirat:

Nana :)

Nice find!
Only ones I've ever found were shot through!

Nice coin, glad you got out to hunt. I hope to live in Deadwood some day, it is a great place. My wife Margie, and I get up there at least 1 or 2 times a year to shoot in a Fast Draw contest.

DEADWOOD HAD A Large Chinese population. They have had digs in chinatown. But nice find.

A really nice coin......but I'm wondering why someone shot a hole in it with a SQUARE bullet?

Very nice, I've seen a few of those on Tnet before.

Nice find there Mrs. O'.
I'm sure there's quite a bit of history surrounding that coin.
Keep at it!
Mike
