Dealing with a blow from the enemy

I lost another good dump bank today......... My wife had offered to drop off a $400 plus bag of halves on here way to the doctors because we are expecting again. They are a new branch of a bank that I dump at. Half of them are good..... half are bad. Apparently they talked to the bad half. Takes some balls to turn away a 9 month pregnant small woman. I have only made a total of 3 dumps there none bigger then $500. When I started I didn't know any better and would take $1000 or so at a time back to the bank.... a few times a week. I learned and now only take $500 at a time no more then once per week. I really don't see what the problem is here.... one $500 bag of halves a week or every other week isn't that bad. At some point I think I am going to have to make a stand with them...... but I still have 4 branches that I can dump at. I don't want to make it worse and loose them too. Any Suggestions? If you are going to say buy them cookies or talk sweet to them don't waste my time. I am thinking along the lines of contacting the bank CEO via formal letter. Anyone got a form letter I could put my name on?

I guess I really shouldnt complain because this has got to be the #1 thing I stress about in life......Whats going down with my dump banks. Aren't I a dork?

The sad thing is this is the bank I had since I was 19. Had multiple loans, checking, savings, and almost got my mortgage there. Now I sold the truck paid off the loan and have just my daughters savings and a checking account we don't really use anymore. Not to mention I talk about how they suck to EVERYONE I talk to..... do they really think they are making out here?

I didn't.... if you can read it says she offered. I asked her "are you sure its not to heavy?" she said "no its fine, Im going there anyway". She said as long as I do the celing in the bathroom. She had been wanting it cleaned for a while. It gets kinda nasty. So I went ahead and cleaned the bathroom. It needed it anyway. She is a big girl now and an independent woman she tells me when she does and when she doesn't want to do something. She doesn't need me to or want me to baby her.
Why don't you defend the banks on the CRHers forum to. That seems to be a popular thing to do for some of you people. I should have said... "if you don't have any productive ideas to help a CRHer dont bother posting" So please don't.

Well 1st if you would not think of the bank as your ememy.....banks are our key to finding silver...i take good care of my bank and it pays off........thinking of a bank as emeny will get you no where fast.......just a productive idea ..........like you asked for

ohh good advice.... you might as well said give them some cookies...... Apparently you just want to be a pain in the ass and I dont think I asked for any of that.... If you have any actual way you delt with the banks and had good results please share. If not... Go away. I have no problem getting the halves and finding the silver....its cashing in the clad. So if you dont have anything to offer as help and just want to do your uppity I love the banks stuff dont respond.... just let it die.

I'm going through a similar problem with my bank. Actually on the opposite end of the spectrum. I go to pick up my weekly halves last week and they tell me that there are going to start charging me now. I have been picking up boxes from there since November. Not to mention the fact that I have six accounts there including a mortgage. So I go and talk to "upper management" to see why after being a customer with them for over 15 years with several accounts that all of a sudden it is a problem getting coin. After giving a real bullshit answer, I threatened to pull my accounts and take them elswhere only to have them say they were sorry to see me leave. That's mighty fine customer service for you don't you think?

I'm thinking of pulling one at a time like one per day... once they see a pattern they may wise up and actually think about the customer first for a change! Either that or by the time I get to my primary accounts, my direct deposits will have taken affect with the new bank and I can pull out completely.

Some banking facilities (probably not yours) were built entirely around the mortgage business. As the economy worsens, the smallish mortgage-built banking facilities will probably go belly-up. Charging for the (used-to-be) freebies is one way for the banks to recoup some cash... but it's a bad sign for that bank.

You may want to evaluate what type of dump-bank you are dealing with, and if you feel it may be going under- don't waste your breath arguing about their (sudden) new charging policies... let it go.

well thats what I was thinking about....... maybe just leaving my checking account there so I can use the 4 other branches to dump off and open an account at a local credit union and use them as well. Then I would be going back to the branches of that bank that are still good a little less as to avoid any possible problems. I have have the same problem. I have been going there since I was 19 and had done my banking with them exclusively but a few of the branches including the main branch turned on me lightning fast and pretty harsh. I dont think I have enough money to wave under their nose to make them change their mind. This bank has been financing alot of projects around our town. New Walgeens for one, and they opened a new branch. I looked to them for when the mortgage rates were going down but their rates were 1% higher then the place down the road. I dont know how they would pull that off. 1% is huge when it comes to a mortgage.

I do wonder what the costs of shipping these halves are though. The funny thing is NO ONE will tell you! No matter where I go. I have asked so that I can be more choosey about my dump banks and only take it to the ones where it woudnt be a major burden. I would say for some of their branches it must be pretty darn expensive. I mean if they are willing to lose a lifelong customer and his family forever..... not to mention I tell people flat out what I think of that bank and how they treated me when ever it comes up. I hear word of mouth is the best advertizing.

All I can say is that my former pick-up bank that wants to charge me for rolls now has just become my new dump bank. I got three other banks that I just opened acounts with that are happy to sell me boxes without charging me. One will even sell me the bags after they fill up out of the machine. And I have another that I just visited last week that said they'd sell me the bag even if it wasn't full. They have an older machine that at the push of a button tells them how much is in the bag. So while I'm still pissed at my bank for turning on me, I still have options. And when they start getting these dumps on a regular basis, maybe they'll figure it's easier to and maybe even cheaper for them to just sell me the boxes again than it is to be shipping out those full bags I'll be giving them every other day!

What is up with the evil banter in this forum. I don't post much but I love seeing y'alls finds. Lately though it seems as though there is a lot of toungue lashing going down. This is in poor taste guys....we need to be keeping with the standards of the rest of treasurenet. I was drawn to this site as a metal detectorists because I was amaized at the wealth of knowledge about treasure hunting and also because the people just seemed like decent down to earth folks like myself. These negative messages and arguments change the atmosphere of this forum. Don't ruin it guys. I have recently read messages that seem as though one person would like the other to just dissappear because they are taking on the silver!!! Is there not enough silver to go around? Enjoy the hunt gentlemen and don't forget how you started out. Remember when just find that first one or two silvers in a roll was enough to make your heart race and keep you happy. If you are finding at least that many then you are doing just fine.

That is my rant. Take it how you wish but I hope it makes an impact.

Don't worry about the negative people around here, sometimes people just have a bad hair day The key to all of this is to ask before you start. Say; I'm wondering if I can order or cash in "x" number of dollars worth of coin. I need to know if there is a charge, and how much I can order or cash in at one time and how often. Be up front and honest with the bank, and you shouldn't have anymore problems. The bank you are talking about seems to have its' fill of bags of coin from you. Pull your accounts and go somewhere that wants your business. Don't stay at a place that treats you badly, your the customer. You should come first, right?
