So after reading a lot on this and other forums, I decided to go for a Tesoro Tejon. Secondhand if possible, that is.
So I checked ebay a last time and found what seems adapted Tesoro's , or maybe even just regular produced ones with other specifications (all get the extension PRO).
Here a link to a site mentioning them (they have different colors also), including new ones???? (REDOUTABLE PRO and L ' I N V I N C I B L E)

Also, I see differences in the faceplates of the same Tesoro's, check the speaker holes here:

Are these Tesoro's follow ups, or made this way for a single market (Europe)?
Has anyone encountered these Tesoro's, or an idea about it?
For instance, this Compadre has a volume control and discrimination settings control, so the volume control is the Pro's icing on the cake?

Thanks for reading, and for all the info you guys and girls gave me sofar.

I believe some of what you are looking at are machines aftermarket modifications - obviously voiding the warranty . . . They are cool mods, but I would just go with a stock Tejon or whatever.

Hi Ian, are you sure? I saw a Tesoro Invincible (the french add the L') on ebay with the remark "similar to Euro Sabre", and a Dutch shop called it "the euro version of the Tesoro Bandido II".

Seems like Tesoro adapted them for the european market, or has 'm produced elsewhere, I'm wondering where the Laser Hawkeye is made, isn't that a simplified Cortes, or Deleon?

No - I'm not positive on that, I just remember someone posting a highly modified Silver Sabre and they added a different name to it - like "Lil' Tejon" or something like that. You may be right, I know that Tesoro does make detectors specifically for the European market.

Dutchy, why don't you just call Tesoro and ask them? They'll tell you if the machines you saw are true Tesoro European machines or some private mods. They have nothing to hide.

And, welcome to the forum.

In the UK, there is a place that upgrades and modifies Tesoro called Pentechnic, I am going to get my Tejon modified there as soon as I get the time which is short. The modifications put in a auto ground balance along with the manual ground balance and open the iron discrimination more make better for relic searching. The work is rather expensive which is a ripoff but that's the UK where things are rather hi. Bill

Dutchy - that link is not a Tejon - even modified. I don't even know what machine that is - looks like a silver umax with some aftermarket dials - the operating frequency of that machine is 10kHz - while the tejon is 17Khz. The 17kHz is the key to Tejon's power. Again, I'd get the real deal - a stock Tejon.
