Pulled this lid from the train station pit we've been digging near Pittsburgh yesterday. The knob on top is broken off, but otherwise it's intact. Station was built about 1895 and a lot of the glass we've found is potentially from that era. My question to you glass experts: what's the earliest a piece like this would have been made? It's smooth on the outside, with embossed decoration on the inside. It's about 4" square. Thanks for your opinions!
