Went down to Delaware last week, to see what we could find on the beaches after the storm. Went to Coin beach, Bethany Beach and Dewey Beach. Hunted from just above the surf at low tide to just below the dunes. Dug lots of targets, but no coppers on coin beach and no really good jewelry. My buddy was using a CTX-3030 and I was using my XP Deus. We found quite a few .50 bullets and artillery fuse parts and lots of copper shrapnel. We also found about 10 pounds of lead fishing weights each. I did find the one piece of jewelry that I thought might be silver at first but I'm not so sure now, it's not marked. I also found about $6 in clad.

Nice finds! Thanks for sharing...

Nice finds I wanted to hit the beaches but didn't get a chance. Never got a bullet over there just the links. What's the piece on top right. Found one last time there.

I think it's part of an artillery shell fuse.

Looks like you found an old proving grounds.
About 15 years ago I was asked by the ranger at Sandy Hook
to put my detector away. He told me it's not allowed on a National Seashore Park, and because Sandy Hook was once part of a US Navy Proving Grounds. There might be some unexploded shells that I shouldn't be disturbing. lol
Congrats on your finds.

Congrats on your finds.

I think there was a gunnery range offshore during WWII. When they dredged-up sand to rebuild the beach after a storm, with it was the pieces of exploded ordnance.

Looks like you had fun! :occasion14:
