These are my significant finds since I began MD 12/28/2016. I've also found close to 600 clad coins. I think I am doing fairly well for a newbie, at least I am happy with the results. No silver or any old coins yet, but hopefully they will come. The rings kind of take the sting out of finding no old coins yet.

Not showing in the photo is a gold tulip ring that my daughter lost 12 years ago, that I found in my back yard, with an ACE 200 that I recently sold.

All of the other finds where found with my DeLeon, except the bracelet, which was found with a Gamma 6000.

Just thought I would share my results with you folks, as a lot of you have helped me along in my journey.

Thank you.

Looks like you're doing well, Vern! Getting out in the fresh air and sunshine, and finding great stuff too.

That's what it's all about! :sunny:

Very nice Vern!!!
And I see you figured out the picture thing. :-)

Or blind luck! Thanks for showing me the way. Who knows, might start making movies now. (thats a ha ha)

Congrats on the 600 clad .. but no old coins???? Not even a wheat penny?

Congrats on the 600 clad .. but no old coins???? Not even a wheat penny?

Actually the count to date is 591 clad coins. 71% pennies.
No old coins, none, nada. The jewelry is what keeps my spirit uplifted.
I did find two 1964 pennies yesterday. So, perhaps I am getting closer.

It's just a matter of location.. Yesterday, I did around where what I was told was an "old" cabin tear out. No idea how old the cabin actually was but I found about 100 coins, mostly zincs... It was like someone tossed a couple rolls out all over the place, but they were under soil an inch or more. Not one single wheat at that spot, but right down the road from there, I dug four wheats and two silver dimes.. You never know.

Pinenut, approx how deep were the wheaties and the dime? We're they deeper than the two inches of the other coins?

The reason why I ask is because I did some dirt depth tests today and it opened my eyes.

On the DeLeon, I usually run low (3-5) sensitivity, and low (11:00) threshold. Using the low settings vs max sensitivity and 02:00 threshold, I gained at a min 2 more inches in depth. So, I'm going with the latter for awhile for more depth.

I also tested my beloved DeLeon against my Gamma 6000. Whew. That's all I'm going say about that. If I can get past the chatter, the Gamma could be pretty special too. Deep and it locks on.
This is the truth too, I caught the DeLeon winking at the Gamma as if to say, "don't even think about it buddy".

Vern, the spot where I dug the wheats and silver dimes was about a mile away from the place where all the shallow zincs were. Zincs were around a cabin tear out, silver dimes and wheats at the "cellar hole" of an old ranger station residence. Silver dimes and wheats were around 2"-4" deep.

I think that in more mineralized soil areas is where the lower sensitivity works better, partly 'cause the minerals reflect back too much of the detector's transmitted signal. You can compensate for that somewhat with adjustable GB, but without a GB adjustment, you can only lower sensitivity.

Thanks for the info, pinenut.
I think I am getting mighty mighty close to wheaties and silver. I know I'm close.

Vern, you and your DeLeon are ready now...it's just a matter of getting your coil over it.

Finding the right places to hunt is half of the fun, though. :sunny:

Yeah. You tell it like it is, pinenut.

Congratualtions on the nice finds! :occasion14:
