Hello all, This is one of my best Roman finds, it's a silver DEO TOT ring. The ring is miss spelt DIO. DEO means roughly "to the god". TOT is short for the Celtic god Totatis. Lots of ring with the inscription TOT have been found which made the reason for these rings unsure. The addition of DEO proves that these rings were worn by followers of the god Totatis who had their centre in the Lincolnshire area. One other DEO TOT ring as recently been found but it's only a fragment. To the best of my knowledge and the establishment this is the only complete example found so far. Sorry the pictures are a bit blurred (time for a better camera). I actually found the ring in my mates foot print he went a funny shade of green when I called him over.
