Depth or target separation, which coils produce best for you??

I'm using a Sovereign XS-2 and a 7.5" DD coil. I use it way more than my 10" The reason is because I hunt in areas with either closely spaced targets or iron infestation so it's target separation for me all the way!
I wish I had a smaller DD coil.

Maybe I should just ask if anybody is digging coins deeper than 4"?
I haven't found much at all deeper than 4" and have found some nice silver.
Here in MA the soil is VERY rocky, maybe that keeps the coins from sinking?
Either that or my detector needs help.

Coins don't "sink" per se, soil overburden covers them up. Think about all of the grass you cut during the summer. What happens to it? It rots and becomes "soil" on top of the coins building depth year by year. Here in good old Louisiana, where the trees are almost always in bloom, and the leaves fall constantly so basically? Stuff dropped in the 1800's is a foo down or more unless in a field with no trees or a plowed area.
