1. dig hole 1inch under 3 feet
2. insert coin cover with one inch of earth
3.detect and find

tip two find only gold

1. carry tin of spray paint (gold coloured)
2.find coin
3.spray said coin gold unless its gold already.

tip three find only silver

1.carry tin of spray (silver coloured)
2.find coin
3.spray silver unless its (a) silver or (b) gold

Another tip,

Always scan the dog poop piles. Seems dogs in my area can find silver and take a dump right over it. Found 3 silver coins under different dog piles, go figure.........
