Diamond ring story

Well I have been detecting about a year now and have found a few wedding bands but no diamond ring.sunday morning decided to go out after I dropped my son off at boyscouts,while there one of the dads asked to tag along,I said I didnt mind so we went to lake I always hunt.hunted for about 30 minutes and it started to rain so I told the dad that we would go.well at that moment he called me over to the dock he was standing on excited he pointed in the water at a .38 diamond ring.i had my waders on so I pulled it out of the water and gave it to him.has anyone ever had this happen to them? I am kind of down now.he had the ring appraised at 900 dollars.shane
