I don't see any doubling I do see PMD

XRPforza...looks interesting, just might be...though even if it was it always comes down to the condition of the coin and what does it grade...you could always send it off to NGC or PCGS for grading...they will give you a definitive answer...Good luck with your hunts...WALT

PMD from a rolling machine. NOT from a doubled die.

Time for more coffee.

What trdking and galenrog said, it is post mint damage, and has no additional value.

that's a 'no' vote from me. keep on looking, you might run across a winner

Thanks for clearing up what PMD is smokeythecat! :laughing7: Sorry your Wheat Cent isn't a double strike, XRPforza but Welcome to TNet from Nick to CT! :hello:

Here's a pic of what the true double dies look like. These are 1972's, the minor varieties. 1972.webp19721.webp It's two different coins a type 3 and a type 8, both have been graded and slabbed.

Looks like I am late to the party, but no not doubled die. Damage as previously stated.

Definitely not a double die mint error, but good for you for scrutinizing your collection! You never know!

I agree that it is PMD, and like galenrog said it looks like it was caused by a rolling machine because of the circular pattern of the damage.

DawnNC, I had to wonder what PMD was for a long time myself!

We are lazy typers :) Post mint damage takes soooo long

Even if it was a doubled die, which it is not, that does not mean it would have the same value as a totally different doubled die. Many doubled dies have very little value at all.
