Looks like you did a good job on the shaft. Good hunting to you 8)

Ok my friends, lets not have a detector war :argue: :love3: :sign10:

I'm sure both have their good and less desirable points. I chose the Excalibur, this particular one for several reasons. For one, I've wanted one since they came out way back but life always seemed to take a front seat and I made other choices. Money is tight and I only has a budget of $1200. Got this Excalibur II 800 at Detector Depot as "used once in a front yard" for $900. The guy quickly decided he wanted an E-Trac and traded it back in but he had already sent in the warrantee card and since they aren't transferrable, I have no factory warrantee but Lynn at DD has given some personal gaurantee options so I'm ok with it. Needed the good deal so to have enough left for the wetsuit and a few other things just to get me started.

So I'm just happy to be finally able to get in the water and/or not have to worry about getting caught out in the rain on some of my land hunts. It'll be delivered tomorrow and hopefully first swimming hole test this weekend ;D

no detector wars here.i found 78 gold rings with my infinium.i dont have it no more because someone stole it. the quickest place had excal 2 so i got it.the worst mistake i ever made before i had the infinium i had 2 excals both junk.this excal only 2 rings and a gold nugget over about 4 months and i hunt more now,bad odds.but hey whatever works for you is the ticket.i got out at 2 this morning digging quarters at about 16" and got a junk earring

oh also minelab"wont"do coil changes.and now i know why soldering is a pain in the---.i will end up hard wiring i can see it coming.i called minelab tec said new rule from upstairs no coil changes.unless he was lying and didnt feel like doing it.but im a junkie and cant wait unless i get another detector

I love my excal II, a straight shaft was a must for me. The wet suit takes some time..lol

excellent choice i have excal also plus i had the infimty dont have anything good to say about it (use less) the excal is the best machine for the beach and water ive dug dimes to 15 inches with it and have got gold even deeper ps if you want to change your coil to the sunray 12 or wot send it to minelab and have it done right no splice jobs dont wreck a 1300 dollar detecter voids the warranty ps the key to success with the excal is the thes hold settings should be run in dis at 1 sens at 1200 or 1 depends if your deep in the surf you may have to go lower voulme max listen to the treshold the barly heard beep dig all these as they could be gold good luck when i say 12 i mean 6 or less on your sens dail the 12 was as in 12 oclock

I appreciate the advice from competent Minelab owners. Don't really know why digum had to go bash my new detector party :icon_jokercolor: but we're gonna party on dudes and dudettes ;D

Now I did look at all the other detectors as much as one can and read all the reviews. PI just didn't seem right for me and believe it or not I am an old Garrett fan from way back. So my Excalibur will be delivered tomorrow.

I have an Excal that is now the backup to my primary water machine, a water proofed Sovereign GT. Never had a problem with my Excals, I just like the tones and the way the Sovereign works in the water.

I know when I am in the surf hunting and I see someone enter the water with an Excal I think "Darn, there goes a couple of my finds"..

I set the disc to 1 or less, threshold to where I barely hear constant tone, I set sense to where ever it is stable then back off just a hair, it varies between 10-2 o'clock position usually, and volume is set to max...

Always dig any tiny or barely audible tones!

good luck and good hunting.

excal pirate mabie you are right since im not finding much.but i asked the best hunter there is and he uses a excal and finds gold almost every day.is there different settings for different people?i can blame it on the bad economy,no one in the water, alot of hunters or even me. not trying to bash his new detector party.shoot im probably the only one who thinks its a second grade product.there are a slew of people out there that love them.4 months with this machine im pulling out my hair

Got her! ;D

We went out in an old lot just before dark. I got the sound of copper down pretty good with some hose fittings, then a brass clock key. Clad dime, 1980 at four inches rang loud and clear. Couple of pull tabs.

Hope to take her in the water this weekend. Dang it was a long day waiting on UPS :D

What kind of hookah rig you getting? I wanted one but couldn't swing for the funds. Air Line was what I was looking at.

Pieced together two shaft parts from other machines and came up with a nice and well balanced finish. Not the prettiest but it works. Get some finds in my pouch and I'll spring for one of the nice Anderson shafts so my old machines don't feel so mangled ;D

Made a couple of scoops too but not sure they are even picture worthy :D

HEY Arkiegold, Nice choice .. I have owned almost every water detector on the market . The excal Rules big time ,, Don't let anyone tell ya otherwise . I have found many gold rings with my excal once I figured out how to set it up (and thats very easy) . My last ring was 18k 14 grams of white gold with 5 diamonds ,, found it with an excal. Best of luck to ya , You made a fine choice ... Guzz1

i wish i could find me an excalibur..cheap :( :(, but hey....i will get one ;D ;D... hope you have great times with it , cant wait for mine

Rosie got her new Anderson SCUBA Shaft today. Was able to use the same extension from another machine for length in land use. Perfectly balanced at the handle.

Made a little foot from some aluminum to keep her off the ground. Easily removed for when she wants to go swimming...

Hopefully we will get to go try a swim area this week sometime.

Hey, I like that setup. What is going on there,is it stock lower with another piece plus a third?
Also, what do you guys and girls prefer? Controls alongside forearm like in pic or behind elbow?
What's the advantage of having the controls on the short piece of tubing that is then attached to the
main shaft?
I am going to be making a straight shaft and want a good setup.
Thanks..

Both the Infinium and Excal II are great machines, the Infinium may go a little deeper but you will be digging everything if you want the gold, will not discriminate out the iron so you will dig it. To each his own. That shaft looks great. HH

Is the straight shaft easier to swing in the water? Do you hunt normal or use it like a broom? I mostly hunt wet sand to knee deep and just wondering how to swing if I go any deeper. Thanks and HH
