This is a prime example of an ancient making a tool to fit his or her specific need. It almost reminds me of a Hawkbill knife. He or she found a way to flake it out in such a way that it created the "hook". This is not a "sex rock" or a "geofact". I can't seem to take a decent digital pic at night for some reason. I was wanting to show the flaking on both sides, but the pics would not focus. I will try tomorrow in daylight.

Thanks for looking.

I've seen breaks like that before, it happens when flintknapping every once in a great while, comes from either a miss-strike in the percussion flaking stage, a flaw in the stone, or a combination of both but I would be willing to be that the large flake creating the hook look was not intentional. I hope you don't get mad at me for saying that... :'( but it's true. Can you see any secondary or tritirary flaking on the hook part? It may very well have been used like that anyways..

Neat,I've got several that look like that peice but the hook is more squared where mine were definitly broke,Thats the smoothest rounded break ive seen but it could be a break, i'll try and get some pics of the ones i have up soon.Anyways thats a neato peice.
