I was thinking the exact same thing. Germany has some really pretty red stag. I've seen pictures, but, when I was in Germany, I saw some personally - they had the most beautiful coloring.

looks like a small travel souvenir like you'd put in a shadow box. as far as age, I'd guess maybe 60's or 70's
