The weather is getting nice, and if you are looking to do some cool stuff with your family or spouse, come on and play with us. The Houston Archaeological Society (HAS) is an active group and we dig at least twice a week. Doing digs aren't mandatory but they sure are fun. They usually last from 8:00 am till 1:00 or so, depending on weather.
We have three active digs going on in the Houston area currently and they all are prehistoric in nature. We rotate one week day and a Saturday over the three sites in order to get to them all.
We would like to have more people join us and no experience is necessary.
Check out the website. www.houstonarchaeologicalsociety.org or join on our facebook page, Facebook.com/houstonarchaeologicalsociety.
Hope to see you and your family

Too bad there aren't more opportunities like your across the country. I've been involved in several excavations open to public volunteers here in Ohio that were very well received.

We have been digging for over 38 years now. It is always an adventure.

Mike Gramly, an arkie from MA is always looking for volunteer badgers to dig with him. He works in the Midwest quite a bit. He’s presently digging at the Blue Lick in KY. I’ve participated many times and it’s always interesting and I always learn a lot.

Yes for sure. It adds another layer of understanding you might say. I have heard of Mike actually. His name came up in one of the newsletters a while back. He has a lot of published work as well.
