Ive been very busy this week and never had the chance to post my finds from the weekend. Last Saturday i had to get my CW fix so i returned to my Union camp site. This site has been dug out but still manages to produce. Just out of the truck i located a .50cal Maynard bullet, then a horseshoe and after some silence i pulled what i believe may be a michanical pencil and this calvary hat pin. It was smashed into a ball, i managed to straighten it out without destroying it to bad.
Yesterday, i went in search of the fable CSA camp near my home, spending hours tromping through the snake and tick infested woods i located a small sign of CW activity. Along the way i found 2 horseshoes and a small copper tag, the tag reads "Mutual Life Insurance Company Of Chicago", on the reverse "CB & QRR, 9696 Way". 2 small round balls and finally a .58cal round ball. I also located a weirs pit/dump/cellar hole. I dont believe it is a sink hole because of the excavated berm. I will continue the search this weekend.
If anyone has any insight on the pencil, or insurance tag, or hole i would appeciate the input. Pictures do no justice for pit, approx 4 ft deep and 6-8 ft diameter with alot of fill. Thanks for looking and sorry im late on the posting.
