And I can't quite place the year on this- although it may be several years. Hood ornament for a Ford, right? Anyone know the age? And no, the interior of the round part is all gone... (The setting is no help, as it's an old mill where I thought I'd be finding things MUCH older!) ... sigh...

I would place this piece in the late 40's to early 50's. My first thought was Buick, but I didn't see an exact match.

Could be an after market item. Changing/adding chrome to your car was a popular thing to do in that era.

I think I found it: 1957-1959 Ford Fairline Hood ornament. It appears that the Ford logo part of it got lost or fell out at some point which is not uncommon.

I love the kind of car that ornament came off of, I really love the look of cars from the 40's and 50's
