I know what you're thinking, disappointing silver??? Well this thing sure looked like a half dime when it popped out of the hole. I found my first and only one in this field and was hoping this was the second. Small little bugger.

Anyway, still happy with this guy. A first for me. Thought it might be the high crown variety at first but I don't think it is after evaluation.

First time out in a while, got the bug again. :icon_thumleft:

Bob - if I dug that after what just happened to me I'd be convinced it was a Lord Baltimore groat .... haha! Kidding aside, nothing wrong with that find even though I understand your disappointment.

I have a story of disappointing silver. I was coin roll hunting, and saw a thin worn silver edge. I was almost sure I had seated, I pulled it out, and it turned out to be a 40% silver 1869 Hungary - Austria coin. I was almost sure I had a seated, but was a little disappointed that it wasn't. Still an 1869 foreign silver is cool.

i have the 1918 of those, they are pretty tiny. i can see how you thought it was a half dime.
